CHILDREN (AGE 10 AND ABOVE), ADOLESCENTS AND FAMILIES
During childhood and adolescence, individuals experience extreme pressure and stress to perform academically and try to fit in socially.
Teens engage in risk taking behaviors, challenge boundaries and authority in an attempt to find their own identity. In addition, youth experience many physical changes resulting in mood swings, difficulty focusing and making impulsive poor choices. This time of development is extremely challenging to the individual, as well as their family.
Therapy can provide a safe space where children and adolescents can “vent” and better understand their behaviors and their emotional ups and downs. They can work on communication and problem solving skills both inside and outside of the home. Therapy can help explore their feelings and thoughts in a non-judgmental and caring environment. At times, the family may participate in the therapy process to improve communication and problem solve with the help of the therapist to resolve difficult and reoccurring issues.

The definition of “relationship” is the way in which two people are connected, or the state of being connected.
Words used synonymously are: bond, alliance, connection and relation. Many times, what starts out as a strong bond or loving connection between two people gets lost, forgotten or damaged due to daily responsibilities and the demands of work and children. In addition, factors such as poor communication, decreased intimacy and financial difficulties cause hurt, anger and sometimes hopelessness in couples.
Couples Therapy and counseling can help you communicate more effectively with your partner, and better understand each other’s needs and wants. Therapy can provide a safe and supportive environment where you can share your disappointments, concerns and hurt. You can begin to heal your relationship. Don’t wait until your relationship can’t be fixed. Let us help you re-connect!
